Coco the Korean Borzoi: our first foster!

Coco at the shelter in Asan, S. Korea
Little Coco, no bigger than a female greyhound, was found in a shelter in S. Korea, and brought to N. America by Born to Run Global Sighthound Rescue.  She was in rough shape, with infected feet, almost no coat, and nearly starved.  Despite a near-crippling fear of a world that has treated her horribly until so recently, she still has deep love to give.  Look at that face, begging us to be worthy of her willingness to take another chance on opening her beautiful heart.

She spent 4 months with Annie in British Columbia, who was able to share a deep love with Coco.  Annie's home in town is too stressful for Coco at this stage, so it was determined that she could come to our house in the more rural, bumpy grass and boggy corner of Washington state.

I'll have more of her history in the days to come, and I'll be writing about how we progress.  Her time here will be spent in gentle training, to help her overcome her fears of the world.  My two greyhound boys will adore her, that's a given (they love girls!), and I hope their own comfortable routines will help Coco ease into life here.

We will meet when she is delivered by Annie and her husband tomorrow evening.  I hope to have my husband manning the camera, so I can share pictures to help tell our story.  We're VERY excited!

*Note: while she's currently listed as available on the website, we'll be hanging onto her until she's gained some more confidence, and her health issues are all settled.
